PETG: ideal for molded and functional applications

PETG is a clear, transparent plastic known for its excellent machinability. The material is easy to saw, mill, and bond, and is also well-suited for thermoforming and vacuum forming. In addition, PETG is more impact-resistant than PMMA, making it more resistant to impacts. Thanks to these properties, PETG is widely used for displays, protective covers, and machine guards.

PMMA (acrylic): for a crystal-clear finish

When appearance and transparency are paramount, PMMA is often the best choice. This transparent plastic has very high light transmission and a clear, glass-like appearance. In addition, the material is more scratch-resistant than PETG and polycarbonate. Although it is less impact-resistant, acrylic is often chosen for advertising, decorative glazing, and luxury displays.

Polycarbonate: Strong Even Under the Harshest Conditions

Polycarbonate stands out for its exceptional strength and durability. Compared to PETG and PMMA, the material is virtually unbreakable and more resistant to heavy loads and temperature fluctuations. This makes it a popular choice for safety glazing, machine guards, and outdoor applications. Although polycarbonate is less scratch-resistant than PMMA, a special coating can significantly improve its scratch resistance.
