Polyetheretherketone, or PEEK for short, is a typical high performance plastic because of its strong combination of properties. It is the most widely used high performance plastic in Dutch mechanical engineering thanks in part to its broad heat resistance ranging from -40°C to 250°C with peaks of up to 300°C.
Its composition of properties makes t PEEK so unique. The high material stiffness, low coefficient of expansion and excellent dimensional stability offer the right solution in many situations. In situations where stability is desperately needed, PEEK can be the right solution. Because of its dimensional stability, we largely use this material for precision parts.
PEEK is easy to machine in all machining ways. As mentioned earlier, the material is often used for precision parts and its tolerances and dimensions are very close. In most cases, therefore, we machine this plastic with our 5-axis milling machines. This way we can guarantee the quality of the products.
PEEK comes standard in the color beige, its natural color. The material is rigid and cannot be bent, folded or shaped. In addition, PEEK has high heat resistance and very low flammability. A convenient way to identify PEEK is to tap it with a tip. When you do this, you should hear a clear sound.
