PA Plastic

engineering plastic

PA, also known as Polyamide or Nylon, is a hard, rigid, as well as a sound-absorbing plastic. The material is recognized by its yellowish glow and the fact that it is absolutely unbendable. When machined, Nylon also shows long chips, which must be carefully considered during the manufacturing process of plastic products.

PA Plastic

PA Plastic is referred to by other designations besides the term “Polyamide” such as PA6, PA6+, Nylon, PA12 and Nylatron. This plastic is known for its exceptional abrasion resistance and excellent sliding and rolling properties. The material does not break under heavy loads and is resistant to many chemicals. Due to its high moisture absorption, it is generally less dimensionally stable.

The machining capabilities and applications of PA

PA Plastic is very tough and it offers excellent machining capabilities. It can therefore be easily adapted to different applications. For example, we can easily mill, turn, laser cut and in some cases weld and glue polyamide. With a temperature range of -40°C to +80°C, the material is often used for plain bearings, gears and conveyor rollers.
